Ioshackz.com Leaker Alleges Apple’s Foldable iPhone Borrows Surface Duo Design And No Notch A new leak hints at the existence of a foldable iPhone. This iPhone will borrow the design elements of the Surface Duo, but it adopts a completely different approach from the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Jon Prosser of YouTube channel Front Page Tech, who we all very familiar with, posted on Twitter this morning that Apple’s been working on a foldable iPhone. Allegedly, the prototype has two separate display panels on a hinge, similar to the Microsoft Surface Duo that’s been announced but not yet released.
It sounds like Apple resisted mounting a display on the hinge, minimizing the design issues that plagued Samsung’s initial launch of the Galaxy Fold. It also eliminates the potential problem of repeatedly opening and closing the device, which may provoke the screen material on the display to underperform.
In addition, also like the Surface Duo, Apple does not use “notch” on its foldable iPhone. Instead, Face ID and other sensors are included in the “tiny forehead” above the display.
It is not clear what stage Apple is in the design process, but we should know that Apple has done a lot of research on foldable technology. There are rumors that various forms of foldable iPhones have been in development for some time, but they are not expected to be available in 2020.
