Ioshackz.com Kuo: No iPhone 12 Tomorrow, But There Will Be New iPad Air And Apple Watch Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in his latest research report claimed that Apple will not announce iPhone 12 at tomorrow’s digital-only event, but Apple is expected to announce the new Apple Watch models and iPad Air.
He pointed out in the report that the expected mass production shipment dates for the iPhone 12 lineup, the new iPad Air, and Apple Watch are in mid-October (the fastest), mid-September and mid-September, respectively.
Concerning the Touch ID sensor integrated on the power button of the iPad Air 4, he predicts that more new iPad models will be shipped with this function in the future.
While Kuo also expects the new Apple Watch to include blood oxygen detection, those users who look forward to changes in the design of the Apple Watch are anticipated to wait until Series 7 arrives in the second half of next year at the earliest.
As for the iPhone 12 series, Kuo said that the four models all support 5G and come in two versions, Sub-6GHz and mmWave+Sub-6GHz. The Sub-6GHz iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max will ship in early October, mid-October, mid-October, and late October, respectively, while the higher-spec mmWave version will ship relatively later.
Kuo went on to say that the iPhone 12 models will not support a 120Hz refresh rate, the reason being is battery life would suffer from it, and significantly degrade the user experience. He predicted that next year’s iPhone 13 lineup will be using the LTPO technology and enable support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
Finally, regarding the size of the notch, he said that the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch notch are consistent with the iPhone 11 models. Except, in order for the upper left and upper right information to be displayed normally, the notch of the 5.4-inch version will be slightly narrower.
