Apple released macOS Big Sur 11.2 last week, and today the company released macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 to the public again. This update solves the problem that some 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro models may not be able to charge.
You can now open the System Preferences, select the Software Update, and then manually download and install the update. For users who enable this Setting, it will be automatically installed on your devices.
The release notes claim that macOS Big Sur 11.2.1 addresses an issue that could prevent the battery from charging in some 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro models. On a side note, if your 2016 or 2017 MacBook Pro exhibits these behaviors, make sure you contact Apple to have your battery replaced, free of charge.
More importantly, the update fixed a bug that could enable an app to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges, giving an attacker access to the entire system. According to Apple, this issue was addressed by updating to sudo version 1.9.5p2.
Additionally, Apple also released supplementary updates for macOS Catalina and macOS Mojave, which resolve the same Sudo security problem.
