Apple May Revert iOS To Its Original quotiPhone OSquot Name

Ioshackz.com Apple May Revert iOS To Its Original "iPhone OS" Name, According To Leaker Apple will hold the WWDC 2020 Keynote on June 22, when it will release a new generation of operating systems such as iOS 14, iPadOS 14, watchOS 7, tvOS 14, and macOS 10.16. However, leaker Jon Prosser, tweed this morning that Apple would rename iOS to “iPhone OS,” consisting iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, as well as tvOS naming convention.

In some internal files, the word “iPhoneOS 14.0” does appear. However, the wording “iPhone OS” has been used internally in the iOS system.
In fact, the first generation of iPhones comes with iPhone OS. Later, it was applied to iPod touch and iPad.
On June 17, 2009, with the release of the iPhone 3GS, Apple officially rolled out iPhone OS 3, which supports previous iPhones, but old iPod Touch users need to pay to update. This is also the last system named after the iPhone OS.
Apple introduced iPadOS at WWDC 2019, which marked the first time that Apple divided operating system fo its mobile devices, so it makes sense that such a change would be made at this year’s developer conference.
Well, if Apple adopts the “iPhone OS” name for future releases of iOS that target at iPhone users, it’s unclear what will happen to the name of the operating system for iPod touch.
